Karen McJunkin

Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Board
Karen is the Chair of the SOSystems Board of Directors, and co-founded the company alongside George Frigon. A pioneer in sustainable development, Karen worked primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region during her 30-year career in real estate development. As a result of her groundbreaking prioritization of sustainability and responsibility in her projects in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, she was appointed to The Citizens Advisory Committee of the Chesapeake Bay Alliance. Through her work with the Alliance and other non-profits, Karen became increasingly concerned about the nutrient pollution problem plaguing her home region -- and the lack of scalable solutions. Karen joined forces with George Frigon to find answers; they created SOSystems to provide the solutions that the Chesapeake Bay and countless other water resources desperately need. Karen earned an M.B.A. with distinction from the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler School, and a B.S. in Commerce with distinction from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce.
